Glacier Lagoon III
Glacier Lagoon III
Jokulsarlon, aka Glacier Lagoon, Is a place unlike any other I’ve seen. It’s a place that invoked serenity and overwhelming amazement when I first laid my eyes on the huge icebergs that were seemingly suspended in time. The journey to this image started mid November, dark and early in Reykjavik, Iceland. 5 hours of driving through blizzard like conditions, sleet and amazing beauty we finally reached Jokulsarlon.
Walking from the car along the black sand when I crested the “hill” this was the site I was greeted by! Well worth the sketchy drive. It was so still and even though there were other around it was dead quiet. Or, maybe it wasn’t but I sure didn’t hear anyone. I love the different shades of blues from the water to the icebergs and how the jumped from the painterly like white mountains in the background.
